In the waiting area

Does it feel like you’re in the waiting room of your own life?
Sometimes it feels like everyone else’s name gets called. Engagements, houses, promotions. And you’re sitting there thinking, did I miss my turn?
Honestly, that’s kind of where I’m at. Waiting on the book, building that Mary Girl, Hoping it encourages people, makes them smile, becomes my job. Some days I’m really excited. Some days I wonder whether I’m completely mad for trying. Social media doesn’t always help. It has a way of making it look like everyone else is succeeding while you’re still trying to work out your next step.
The other day I was thinking about waiting rooms. Nobody goes into one because they want to. You wait, you look around, you wonder how much longer it’ll be. Then eventually your name gets called. It made me wonder if life has waiting rooms too. Not because we’ve been forgotten, not because nothing’s happening. Just because not every season is a moving season. Sometimes it’s a growing season. I don’t know what the next few months will look like. I don’t know whether That Mary Girl will take off. I don’t even know what job I’ll have this time next year. But I do know this. If I spend all my time looking at everyone else’s life, I’ll probably miss what’s happening in my own. So I’m going to keep writing. keep creating Keep learning. Keep trusting God with the bits I can’t control. One day at a time.
If you’re in a waiting season too, I hope you know you’re not the only one. Maybe this isn’t the end of your story. Maybe, it’s just the chapter before the next one begins.
I’d love to hear from you. What are you waiting for at the moment? Drop a comment, because I’d genuinely love to read your story.
